Srila Sridhar Maharaj's teachings in Canada inspired by Srila Govinda Maharaj.
Welcome...
...to the
Canadian branch of the Sri Chaitanya Sarasvat Math.
Presently the word Yoga has been identified with physical, mental and emotional improvements. Sometimes it is associated with other spiritual practices. But if we look into the fundamental
basis of Yoga we will find that originally it has been dealt with in
more profound way. For instance in the ancient script Bhagavadgita spoken by Krishna Himself, aging more than 5000 year, we find Yoga descriptions throughout the pages. In Bhagavadgita we find
theosophical and spiritual topics categorized in different chapters
as sankhya yoga, karma yoga, gyana yoga, (see
more...)
BG 6.46 The yogi is superior to persons engaged in severe austerities (such as the Chandrayana vow), superior to the person of knowledge who worships Brahman, and superior to the person of action. Know this to be My conclusion. Therefore, O Arjuna, be a yogi.
BG 6.47 The best of all yogis is the devotee who has full faith in the authoritative pure devotional scriptures, and who adores, rendering all services unto Me. This is My opinion.
Bhakti Yoga has been described
in 12th Chapter of
Bhagavadgita...
...as path of devotion to the Supreme
Person. Devotion is described there as being addressed not to oneself or other people, Unmanifested Brahman,
Wind or Earth etc. bhaktya mam
abhijanati.
Bhakti (devotion) is exclusive and also universal.
It is exclusive as it does not tolerate other paths or multi-goal paths. It is universal because every one can take it up and perfect it within his/her capacity. Yoga is a process, positions or perfection. Bhakti Yoga embraces all type of relationships as all of them sprung
from the Supreme Center. The example is given in Upanishadas: "just
like by watering roots of a tree all branches are nourished or just
by putting food in the stomach one nourishes the whole body, similarly
one creates harmony in whole universe by worshipping the Supreme." True
bhakta is a true friend of all as he sees the Divine Hand every
where.
This website is
dedicated to our beloved spiritual master Srila
Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev Goswami Maharaja, the recipient and master
of ancient line bhakti yoga, who has given us more guidance, hope
and affection than we can ever imagine. We are simply to share the
great gift given unconditionally to us to you and all sincere seekers.
Regardless of age, background, or any material qualification or circumstance,
this gift is beneficial to all. Not everyone is looking for spiritual
life but most definitely everyone is looking for love, beauty, for
harmony and happiness. Unfortunately all transactions in this mortal
world can never bring us satisfaction for what we're truly looking
for. How can we find what can give this satisfaction? Here at our ashram,
it is our hope that you will find the answer.
Our meetings are based on happily hearing about God (hari katha), glorifying
God (kirtan) and tasting prasadam (food offered to Lord Krishna). If
you
want to uplift your conscious heart please come as you are .
Thank you,
Editors
P. S. Kindly, let
us know of any mistakes and discrepancies on these pages for which
we sincerely apologize...

What is Kirtan?
Kirtan comes from word kirti - indicating some one worth glory. So kirtan is an act of giving honor to such a person. The supreme glory is with the Supreme Person. Thus kirtan is not just singing a nice tune. Rather it is based on a sincere devotion, and its quality depends on the intensity of devotion. It is preferable to chant kirtan under the guidance of one whose devotion is pure, unmotivated and clear. The experienced devotees say that the kirtan should be chanted without any petition as far as possible.
We hold regular Bhagavad Gita meeting
